'David Avidan - Media Prophet' is a catalog designed for the exhibition of the same name, held at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art.

Created as my final project for Bezalel's ‘Book Design’ course (guided by Noam Shechter), the catalog presents texts by curator Uri Drumer alongside a selection of visual works by poet and artist David Avidan. The works featured in the book span various media formats, including photographs, paintings, prints, and short films created by Avidan. Some of these works are well-known, while others have never been seen before and were provided by Avidan's family. This diversity of formats required me to create a design that would both honor and accommodate the range of works, allowing the reader to immerse themselves in them.

The design adopts a compact, pocket-sized format, making it an ideal companion for exhibition visitors. The visual approach merges bold, contemporary design with Avidan’s distinctive imagery, using abstract compositions on the cover and clean layouts inside. This design reflects Avidan's avant-garde nature, presenting both his text and visuals in a way that invites engagement and exploration. The dynamic typography references Avidan's visual language, offering a modern twist while staying true to his style. The use of white space and striking visuals balances clarity with artistic intrigue, ensuring the catalog serves as both an informative guide and an aesthetic object.
Designing David Avidan - Media Prophet was a highly rewarding experience, allowing me to merge art and functional design. The process of creating a catalog for such an extraordinary artist gave me the chance to explore the tension between visual expression and practicality. It was thrilling to experiment with Avidan’s unique style, crafting a piece that serves not only as a guide to the exhibition but also as an artwork in itself. This project, much like the exhibition it represents, was a journey of discovery, offering new ways to engage with and appreciate Avidan's bold legacy.
