Modlinger is a fine jewelry brand that uses sustainable, high-quality gold and diamonds made to live in.

The client is a meticulous and detail-oriented jewelry designer with a sharp eye for aesthetics and a deep sensitivity to design. She sought to create a precise, easy-to-use, and pleasant website, and was actively involved throughout the entire process. The only existing assets were the brand’s logo and some product images, around which she wished to build a unique and consistent branding language to support the brand’s identity. Key challenges included building a user-friendly, responsive interface on the Shopify platform with a focus on a sidebar that would guide users throughout the entire shopping experience. The goal was to create a seamless flow that would ultimately maximize purchases, both on desktop and mobile. Another challenge was marketing high-end jewelry online, ensuring the product details conveyed the value behind the price point. Additionally, the task was to develop a design language for the brand with minimal assets (just a logo and product images) and create a cohesive, professional website with a refined color palette, typography, and photography style. The final challenge was avoiding the common clichés of jewelry e-commerce websites, while still highlighting the brand’s minimalist aesthetic in a way that would stand out against competitors.

After understanding the client’s needs and requests, I began by creating a mood board to refine the brand’s visual language. I also conducted in-depth competitor research, both locally and globally, to identify trends and best practices. Next, I built a wireframe for the entire site, focusing on intuitive navigation and optimizing the sidebar for a smooth user experience. I created several design variations for the website interface, which I reviewed repeatedly with the client until we finalized the design. I chose classic, elegant typography and subtle color accents to allow the jewelry to speak for itself. Additionally, I developed guidelines for the brand’s photography style, assisted in planning a professional photoshoot, and used AI tools to adjusy the images for various formats. To keep development costs low, I designed large parts of the site directly within the Shopify interface and used CSS to refine design details. I also created a detailed and clear handoff document for the development team, ensuring a smooth transition from design to implementation.
The result was a minimalist, accessible, and user-friendly website. The client was extremely satisfied with the outcome, noting a significant increase in purchases. The website proved to be not only functional but also visually appealing, helping the brand expand into international markets. It continues to serve the brand effectively today. During this project, I gained extensive experience with Shopify and CSS, which allowed me to communicate development needs clearly with the development team, resulting in an accurate final product. I received highly positive feedback from the development team for my professionalism and understanding of the field.
